Prepare for the One who loves justice.

*Opening Prayer

God of justice and joy, we gather together in your name to proclaim the good news of your presence among us. Where there is oppression, we will shout a message of your liberating love. Where there is sorrow, we will sing a song of your healing love. And where there is fear, doubt, confusion, or anger, we will shine the light of

Jesus Christ, your incarnate love in whose name we pray Amen.1.

Advent Wreath Liturgy Ada, Molly Olsen & family

Last Sunday we lit the candle of Hope, remembering the hope which comes in Christ, and we lit the candle of Peace, remembering God’s dream of a peaceful world. (Light Candles).

Today we light the third candle of Advent, the candle of Joy.

In Advent, we are in a time of waiting. Like the Israelites who wandered through the Wilderness, waiting to come into the Promised Land, we wait for the coming of the Joy of Ages. We wait for the day where we can join our voices with the angels to sing “Joy to the World, the Lord is come!” We wait for the day when everlasting joy will be on each of us.

We light this candle in Joy.

On this day, we remember the Spirit who breathes joy into our lives.

Benediction/Advent Affirmation of Faith

We believe in the coming of light that shatters all darkness and brings love to all people.

We believe in peace, and that one day all nations shall enter the house of God, where love and mercy flow like a mighty river.

We believe in a hope that casts out fear.

We believe in being ready, for Christ comes at unexpected times and places, in the form of strangers, friends, and family.

We believe that we are called to welcome one another, just as Christ has welcomed us.

We believe that the Holy Spirit helps us live in harmony with one another, and prepare our lives for the birth of a child who is called “Prince of Peace,” Emmanuel” God with us.” Amen.

*Choral Response: “Gloria” VU 37
