Church Library! Book Review
I borrowed “15 Minutes of Peace With God” by Emilie Barnes. This is a daily devotion book, leading the reader with a verse of scripture, a key phrase for you to meditate on. Then there is a real-life account of Ms. Barnes’ life reflecting the values for that devotion. There are suggestions on how to put the scriptures into action, or at the least journal your feelings. Published in the 1970s, it is a little “old-fashioned” for the young Mom of today. However, its premise of doing God’s work still applies.
I find it easier to fulfill my daily readings with a guide such as this and an explanation of the scriptures, or a real-life experience. This has helped with my morning devotions, especially while we are travelling. I can find 15 minutes to read, to pray, to journal and to give my day to my Lord, Jesus Christ. I have enjoyed it.
If this doesn’t appeal to you, please check out the library for a book you might enjoy. I’m sure you’ll be pleasantly surprised. Joan L. Carter
