Welcome to Strathroy
United Church

We are happy to have you with us this morning. If you are new to our church please feel free to ask our Ushers any questions about our worship service and facility.

We welcome Dr. Wayne Carol as our guest organist this morning.        

 Coffee and Refreshment Times– Please join us for coffee at the back of the sanctuary before, and down in the Golden Jubilee Room following our service

Infant Nursery– We are happy to provide a Nursery with a sink, children’s table, chairs, play picnic tables, toys and an adult rocking chair. This room has audio from the church service provided. Parents, Grand Parents and visitors are asked to be responsible for themselves and their children.

Peace Candles – If you are a visitor with us this morning there are small votive candles available at the front of the sanctuary for you to take back to your home church.

Spring and Summer Office Hours

The church office will be open:

Monday to Thursday – 9-4   June

Tuesday to Thursday -9-4    July & August



Prayer Circle Box

The Prayer circle group have supplied Prayer Request Cards that are completely confidential. At the back of the sanctuary you will find a locked wooden box with a slot for cards.                

Family Prayers

This Sunday we ask you to pray for the ministry of Dundas St. Centre UC.

We ask you to keep the family of Rev. Fred Lloyd in your prayers as they move forward without him in their lives.  Rev. Fred was our visitation minister in 1989.  Obituary for Rev. Frederick Lloyd

We continue to keep Claude Peyault in our prayers.

Note: Pastoral Care is important. Please contact the church office if you are going into hospital or if you or a family member are needing Pastoral Care. Your name will not be in the bulletin unless we have permission from you to do so. We wish to offer Pastoral Care support  and at the same time respect your confidentiality.

 Rev. Abiel would like the congregation to light a candle in their  homes every Wednesday evening at 7 pm for about 10 minutes until a new minister is selected. This shows our Search Team we support them and with the help of the Holy Spirit to guide them they will make the best selection of a minister for our church.

Community Life Team


We collect food donations weekly for our grocery cart to be split between WRRC and the Salvation Army. Remember this ministry when you do your shopping.  Please help us help those in need. Thank you.


Farmers Market

We have applied for a booth at our local Farmers Market. Our goal is to promote our church and various programs to our community. Flyers will be available for information and various activities for children. We need your help too. We are looking for enthusiastic individuals who are willing to help promote our church in a positive manner. If you could help out for 1 Saturday morning, that would be awesome. Please let anyone on Community Life Team know of your availability. Thanks.

We are also looking for a portable shade awning.


Friendship Club

It’s another Red and White Day coming up on                   Wednesday, June 13!

           Yes, Friendship Club is having another Let’s Celebrate Canada picnic.  There will be a potluck meal followed by various games.  

           All events will be in the Golden Jubilee Room except for the croquet games.  

           We know everyone will be looking for a return of the bean bag baseball tournament!  Lots of fun and absolutely no skill required.

Please bring a favourite picnic food to share.

Ice cream cones will be provided.  We will be eating at 12:00, noon.

           If you have any questions or would like to help the Jolliffe’s and Clark’s, please call Art and Janet Clark at 519-245-8870.  


June 17 is Mission Sunday.

We will be celebrating our contribution to Kare for Kids with guest speaker Rev. Pam Tolmay, Cake and Soup N Bun and cake lunch.

See how the Day Care Centre was built. All are welcome.


Volunteer Appreciation Sunday is June 24. 

Please join us as we celebrate with a BBQ our many volunteers who carry out the work of our church for our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. Heartfelt thanks to you all. Everyone is welcome.

Congregational Life Team

Summer is coming and we are offering lemonade in the Golden Jubilee Room following our

service starting July 1st. There is a sign up sheet for volunteers to set

it up and directions on the wall by the frig.





St Mary’s Church in Napier’s Annual Church Service will be held on Sunday, June 24th at 3pm.





NERF night!!!   MondayJune 18th

Strathroy United Church:

Youth grades 6-9. 6:30 – 8:30 pm-Action-packed NERF sessions played in the host church or location with different game modes. Either bring your own

Finance Team


Finance Update:  as of April 30, 2018


Envelope Revenues       $2372 weekly for a total of $28,458

Expenses                       $5,529 weekly for a total of $66,345

Shortfall                         $3,157 weekly


Mission and Service       $6,463 compared to $5,329 at this time in 2017 and our 2018 commitment is $20,000.


Special Project Fund     $6,650 raised until the end of March 2018 with a goal of $9,687.71 plus            HST and a $1,000 contingency.

                                      Down payment of half the cost has been sent.


Compassionate Fund     $1,051- the next grocery cards will be distributed in October and we will need approx. $1,500 to provide the cards.


Church Mission Fund     $1,049.00 (designated to Hospitality meal)

For more detailed information there are copies of the full financial statements available at the back of the church. If you wish these can also be made available by email and there is a paper and pen provided to facilitate this type of distribution.

           The Finance Team has highlighted the shortage in our General Fund and in our Compassionate Fund. With the summer months approaching if you wish to leave post dated cheques in the office or use this as a time to go on our PAR program please contact the office.
