Welcome to Strathroy United Church

We are happy to have you with us this morning. If you are new to our church please feel free to ask our Ushers any questions about our worship service and facility.

Lemonade following the Service.

Rev. Abiel would like the congregation to light a candle in their homes every Wednesday evening at 7 pm for about 10 minutes until a new minister is selected. This shows our Search Team we support them and with the help of the Holy Spirit to guide them they will make the best selection of a minister for our church.

Please keep Barb Bett, Claude Peyault and Evelyn Bryant in your prayers.

Note: Pastoral Care is important. Please contact the church office if you are going into hospital or if you or a family member are needing Pastoral Care. Your name will not be in the bulletin unless we have permission from you to do so. We wish to offer Pastoral Care support and at the same time respect your confidentiality.

Hospital Bears

Rev. Abiel delivers small teddy bears when he does his hospital pastoral care visits. Joan Gentleman has done one that is knitted and if you wish to knit/crochet some please contact her at 519-245-4037. We thank Evelyn Bryant who has done the material ones in the past.

We are having a bee to do the material ones on Wednesday, August 29th from 10-3pm(bring a bag lunch). Options to help are cutting, sewing, stuffing, some embroidery work.

You can be a part of the assembly line::>).

Farmers Market

We have applied for a booth at our local Farmers Market. Our goal is to promote our church and various programs to our community. Flyers will be available for information and various activities for children. We need your help too. We are looking for enthusiastic individuals who are willing to help promote our

church in a positive manner. If you could help out for 1 Saturday morning, that would be awesome. Please let anyone on Community Life Team know of your availability. Thanks.

Restructure of the United Church of Canada

Please see below the links to bring you all up to date on the restructuring of the United Church of Canada.

Remit Enactment Means Major Structural Changes for the Church

Yesterday afternoon GC43 enacted seven remits that originated at GC42 three years ago. Remit enactment represents one of the biggest structural changes in the history of The United Church of Canada. Before reaching the floor of GC43, a strong majority of pastoral charges and presbyteries voted in favour of the remits. The full news piece is available here. “Now the stage is set for a new structure that will take us into the years ahead,” says David Allen, Remit Implementation Project Leader with the United Church. “We can look forward to how the new structures will reflect our faithfulness to God in the future.” Still have questions? Please contact remits@united-church.ca. Anyone can also sign up to receive the Remit Implementation newsletter here.
